What is Pranayama

black_edited.png

Pranayama is built from the junction of different Sanskrit words. Prana is the“vital life force,” Yama “control" and Ayama means “extension” or “expansion.”

As pranayama, simplifying it, we understand therefore breathing exercises. We extend our life force to mindful breathing. Different exercises have different effects and benefits, but not all exercises are suitable for all kind of people. For example TBI population or people with high blood pressure better avoid practices like Kabalabati (fast way of exhaling), so better check with your breath or yoga coach if you have any medical condition.
